General Conference Buckets

I saw this idea at Brown Paper Packages.

I thought it could be a really cool idea for a family home evening lesson too. Basically you get some buckets (she found her tin buckets in the $1 section of Target) and put keywords that you want the kids to listen for. Fill them with candy and when they hear the word they get a treat from that bucket.

I was thinking that for an individual Family Home Evening you could pick a story from The Friend and pick words from that story. Instead of treats I would fill the bucket with something that we do as a family for the activity. For example, I might put different colored sidewalk chalk in each bucket and our activity would be to go draw outside together. It could be fun to be creative!

  1. I LOVE it! What a great idea to do for anything really. I like the activity part of it too. Or you could do coupons like a day out with mom or something. Thanks for sharing

  2. This is such a cute idea! There's nothing like treats to motivate kids to listen! And such good ideas to put activity things in the buckets.

  3. We did this for Conference last April. I found buckets at Hobby Lobby - some tin and some cute colors: garden section & party section. WE colored pictures for the kids who can't read yet and labeled the buckets and stuck them in front of the TV. It worked for people of all ages. It was fun!
